FISHER ISLAND, Fla. (March 26, 2019) – It was a match made on the tennis court. On March 16, the prestigious Fisher Island Club and De Beers Jewellers doubled up to host some of the game’s brightest stars, including Nick Kyrgios, Bernard Tomic, Taylor Fritz and Feliciano Lopez at the Inaugural Fisher Island Club Celebrity Pro-Am Exhibition.
The fun-filled day, held at the Club’s highly regarded Tennis Center on the eve of the Miami Open, featured a clinic, exhibition and al fresco champagne reception served up in high style.
Fisher Island’s Tennis Center is world-renowned among the tennis glitterati. Not only has it been home to some of the biggest names in tennis, like Boris Becker and Caroline Wozniacki, it is one of the few tennis facilities in the world that offers all four “Grand Slam” surfaces: 2 grass, 2 hard, 5 European red clay, and 9 Har-Tru green clay courts.
The Inaugural Fisher Island Celebrity Pro-Am pitted members and guests alongside the top-seeded touring pros in a lively practice session. Afterwards, the doubles team of Australians Krygios and Tomic challenged the international duo of Lopez (Spanish) and Fritz (American) for an exhilarating match on the Club’s Gardnar Malloy Center Court.
“We are extremely proud to have kicked off Miami’s tennis season with this smashing event, which provided our members and guests with the unique opportunity to learn from some of the top professionals at our state-of-the-art Tennis Center and watch them compete up close and personal,” said Bernard Lackner, Fisher Island Club President and CEO.
“De Beers was delighted to have participated as the sponsor for this exciting day of tennis at Fisher Island Club. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the Club Members on an intimate basis ahead of the grand opening of our exquisite new Bal Harbour boutique,” said, Sidonie Robert-Degove, Managing Director Europe & USA of De Beers Jewellers. The legendary Home of Diamonds celebrated the opening of its third U.S. location at the Bal Harbour Shops on March 18. The new store, full of airiness and light, showcases wondrous pieces by De Beers, its bespoke For You, For Ever service, and their proprietary Iris technology, which allows clients to see through the eyes of an expert.
